You will serve as a Management and Program Analyst (Beacon Manager) and be responsible for certification, type approval, and logistics coordination and oversight for the U.S. SARSAT Program as well as Coast Guard officials in Headquarters over a wide spectrum of complex and difficult programmatic and contractual matters pertaining to the U.S.
SARSAT Program, a mission-critical and life-saving capability and the U.S. contribution to the Internation Cospas-Sarsat Programme. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Managing the U.S.
SARSAT Program beacon segment through coordination of the beacon type approval process. Collecting and tracking data related to beacon type approvals provided by engineering team.
Maintaining awareness of current advances in beacon design and construction as well as beacon usage data by beacon owners for the purpose of recommending changes in programs, practices, or procedures. Collecting and provides initial analysis of beacon activation events. Coordinating Beacon Manufacturers Workshop.

To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the federal sector.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.
Program Assistance - Learning and assisting with program concepts, principles, practices, laws and regulations, budgeting and finance; organizational constructs, and between companies or agencies sufficient to analyze financial programs Beacon Management - Participating in beacon activation events for the purpose of determining causal factors, potential flaws in beacon design or usage, and training and education opportunities.

Program Analysis - Mastering program concepts, principles, practices, laws and regulations, budgeting and finance; organizational constructs, and between companies or agencies sufficient to analyze financial programs Beacon Management - Coordinating with Rescue Coordination Centers, State Search and Rescue Coordinators, beacon owners, beacon manufacturers and other applicable resources to evaluate beacon activation events for the purpose of determining causal factors, potential flaws in beacon design or usage, training and education opportunities, and policy or procedure updates that may be required.
