Clinical Business Analyst (Inpatient Medicine Documentation)
We are seeking a Clinical Business Analyst to support a provincial clinical information system transformation initiative. This role focuses on standardizing clinical documentation practices and workflows across the healthcare system.
The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert on how clinical information systems and digitization impact the design of documentation processes, workflows, and procedures.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for gathering business requirements, facilitating engagement sessions with clinical stakeholders, conducting gap analysis, and designing new standards to be adopted across the province.
The candidate will contribute to the seamless adoption of new clinical documentation standards and collaborate with project teams to ensure effective implementation and stakeholder communication.
The role involves working closely with clinical teams, subject matter experts, and healthcare stakeholders to develop standard order sets, documentation templates, and workflows used by physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and other regulated health professionals.
The candidate will conduct detailed business and system requirements analysis, complete current state and future state workflow design, build and validate clinical content in the system, and create comprehensive process and solution documentation including workflows, use cases, user guides, and training materials.
This position combines steady state and project-based efforts, with some after-hours and weekend work possible as needed with advance approval.
Qualifications
5+ years - Demonstrated experience as a Clinical Analyst or Clinical Informatics Analyst responsible for clinical documentation related requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, use case analysis, business process analysis, detailed design activities, and developing business analysis documentation
5+ years - Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst or Clinical Informatics Analyst in a large-scale acute care digital health transformation or clinical information system implementation project with direct experience building or implementing a similar scale Clinical Information System (EHR/CIS)
Demonstrated experience - Developing clinical deliverables supporting Inpatient Medicine as a Business Analyst or Clinical Informatics Analyst
University degree - In Healthcare, Business Administration, Information Technology, or equivalent combination of applicable education and experience
5+ years - Demonstrated experience as a Clinical Business Analyst responsible for documentation related requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, use case analysis, business process analysis, detailed design and build activities, and implementation related to Inpatient Medicine, or Inpatient Medicine experience in an acute care setting.
Additional experience in computerized provider order entry (CPOE), order sets, clinical documentation, or ancillary services (Pharmacy, Medical Imaging, Lab) is valued.
3+ years - Facilitation skills with demonstrated experience leading workshops with healthcare providers to identify and articulate business requirements, system requirements, and develop user stories or use cases
5+ years - Demonstrated experience working with a high level of self-direction, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to confidently engage and collaborate with project team members, subject matter experts, and stakeholders at all levels
5+ years - Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work with multiple teams supporting more than one project stream or activity at a time
5+ years - Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, Teams) and Atlassian's JIRA software in a project or work environment
Nice to Have
- Verbal and written communication, facilitation, and presentation skills in French and English
- Previous experience working within public health authorities, showcasing a strong understanding of the public healthcare landscape, policies, and practices
