Looking for Philippines-based candidates

Job Role: SEO Specialist

Compensation range: $2,000 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who We Are: At Hunt St , we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is: Our client is an established Australian digital marketing agency supporting businesses with end-to-end digital solutions designed to improve their online presence, generate leads, and achieve measurable business outcomes.

The agency works across a broad range of digital services, combining creative, technical, and performance-focused expertise to deliver tailored solutions for its clients. Their team takes a results-driven approach, with a strong focus on transparency, quality, collaboration, and long-term client relationships.

Role Overview: We are hiring a senior, AI enabled SEO specialist to work alongside our Australian staff, not underneath them. You will own SEO delivery across a portfolio of client sites end to end: audit, plan, execute, report.

The AI part is not a buzzword on the ad. It is how we expect the work to get done. Search itself is changing, with AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini now sitting between our clients and their customers, and the way SEO work is produced is changing just as fast. We want someone who already uses AI daily to do the work of a much larger team, and who has the judgement to know when the AI is wrong.

This is a hands-on role for someone who has already run their own client book and does not need daily direction. If you need a task list handed to you each morning, this is not the one.

You will report directly to the Head of SEO, in Perth. The Philippines and Perth share the same timezone (UTC+8), so you are on the same clock as the team. No split shift and no overnight work.

Key Responsibilities

Own on page and technical SEO across a portfolio of roughly 10 to 20 client WordPress sites

Run technical audits and fix what you find: crawl issues, indexation, redirects, site structure, Core Web Vitals, schema

Optimise for AI search as well as Google. Structure content and schema so clients get cited in AI Overviews and LLM answers, and track where they are appearing

Use AI to scale the work: research, clustering, brief generation, first draft copy, bulk meta data, audit summarisation, report commentary, with a human check before anything ships

Build and improve repeatable AI workflows for the team, so a task done well once gets done fast every time after

Keyword research and content briefs mapped to client services and commercial intent

Write and optimise page copy, meta data and blog content to a standard that reads human, never generic

Google Business Profile optimisation and local SEO for WA service area businesses

Build monthly client reports in Looker Studio that explain what changed and why, not just charts

Monitor rankings, traffic and conversions, and flag drops before the client does

Migration QA: pre launch SEO checks, redirect maps, post launch verification

Work with our developers on implementation, and QA it once it is live

Bring recommendations to the Head of SEO and the Perth team proactively. We want a second brain, not a pair of hands

Requirements

5+ years in SEO, with at least 2 in an agency managing multiple client accounts at once

Demonstrable daily use of AI tools in real SEO delivery (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or similar). They can show us workflows they have built, not just tools they have tried

Editorial judgement over AI output. They know what AI generated content sounds like and they do not let it out the door. Clients get work that reads like a person wrote it, because they rewrote it

Working understanding of AI search: how AI Overviews and LLM answers pick sources, and what to change on a site to be one of them

Genuine technical SEO capability. They can read a crawl report, diagnose the cause and specify the fix

Strong WordPress experience: Yoast or RankMath, page builders, plugin level troubleshooting

Google Search Console, GA4 and Looker Studio to a reporting ready standard

Screaming Frog or equivalent, and SEMrush or Ahrefs, used daily rather than occasionally

Excellent written English. They will write client facing copy and reports that go out with our name on them

Able to work independently across a portfolio and manage their own priorities

Reliable home office setup and stable internet, available 8:00am to 4:00pm AWST

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS

Automation platforms such as n8n, Make or Zapier, for connecting SEO tasks, data and reporting

Custom GPTs, Claude Projects, or their own prompt library built for repeat client work

Light scripting in Python or Apps Script, including AI assisted, for bulk data work and API pulls

HTML and CSS literacy, enough to diagnose and make small front end fixes themselves

Cloudflare, GTM or Zaraz, or server side tagging exposure WooCommerce or e-commerce SEO

Google Ads familiarity, enough to see where paid and organic overlap

Experience mentoring or QA'ing junior SEO work

Australian market experience, or a track record with English speaking Western clients

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

Someone senior enough to be trusted with client outcomes and steady enough to still be here in three years.

AI native, not AI dependent. Uses AI to move faster on everything, and still owns every word that ships

Independent. Runs their own week, chases their own loose ends, escalates early when something is off

Diagnostic. Does not just report that traffic dropped. Finds out why and proposes the fix

Curious about the shift. Search is being rebuilt right now and we want someone who finds that interesting rather than threatening

Communicative. Writes clearly, updates without being asked, comfortable saying "that recommendation will not work, here is why"

Long term. We are building a role, not filling a gap. Growth into leading SEO delivery alongside the Head of SEO as the client base grows is on the table

Work Arrangement & Expectations

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.

To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:

Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work

Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”)
