IT PROJECT MANAGER (INFOSEC)

The position is located in the Projects Branch, Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

OCIO provides overall information and technology management, direction, and systems support to the OIG and is responsible for formulating and implementing proactive and comprehensive information technology (IT) support programs.

The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, applications, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of cybersecurity programs, policies, procedures, standards, and technical solutions.

Typical tasks include: Leading and managing multiple IT projects with integrated information security, overseeing resources and costs, applying technical expertise to resolve issues, advising teams, and communicating project status and security matters to stakeholders.

Implementing security controls in IT projects, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity requirements, assessing and mitigating information security risks, and developing risk assessments for agency stakeholders throughout all phases of IT projects.

Aligning IT project objectives with agency strategies, anticipating and planning for future security challenges, collaborating with stakeholders and partners, and making informed decisions on complex information security issues throughout project execution.

Minimum Qualifications GS-14: Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience at this level includes: Leading and managing multiple IT projects with integrated information security components.

Developing, modifying, and implementing cybersecurity project documentation including project charters, system security documentation, and risk assessments. Evaluating, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity laws, regulations, policies, standards, and procedures throughout the project management process.

Minimum Qualifications GS-13: Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience at this level includes: Managing IT projects with integrated information security components under the direction of senior staff.

Assisting with the development, modification, and implementation of cybersecurity project documentation including project charters, system security documentation, and risk assessments.

Assisting in evaluating and monitoring compliance with cybersecurity laws, regulations, policies, standards, and procedures throughout the project management process Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
