Regional Economist, CG-0110-13 - Direct Hire

At the full performance level, major duties include: Performs economic analysis of the financial services industry, the financial markets, real estate markets, FDIC-insured commercial banks and thrifts, as well as national, international, and regional economic developments.

Plans, performs and provides complex financial and economic analyses related to identifying existing and emerging aggregate risks to the Corporation's deposit insurance fund. Perform economic analysis for incorporation into studies, policy decisions, executive briefings, and testimony. Design and use financial and data analysis models.

Conduct continuous reviews of economic, banking, and financial and related matters to keep abreast of current developments in those areas.

Participate in the design, production, and administration of FDIC publications to disseminate analysis to supervisory personnel, senior management of the Corporation, other regulators, the industry, and the public.

Attend meetings with Corporation officials, representatives of other federal and state regulatory agencies, and representatives of financial institutions and private industry.

Qualifying experience is credited from private and public sectors, including paid and unpaid service (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps). To qualify, applicants must meet the Basic Requirements and the minimum qualifications to qualify for each grade they wish to be considered for. Basic Requirement A. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. OR B.

Combination of education and experience--courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Minimum Qualification CG-13: Applicants must complete one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CG-12 level or above in Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as: Experience working as an Economist applying principles and theories to analyze the financial services industry, financial markets, real estate markets, and national or regional economic conditions and developments; designing and using financial and data analysis models; and writing and presenting findings of analysis.
