Supervisory Health Science Policy Analyst

As a Supervisory Health Science Policy Analyst, your duties will include, but are not limited to the following: Provides leadership, expertise, and infrastructure for Genomic Data Sharing (GDS) policy oversight, implementation, and ongoing policy development, including supporting governance committees, developing standard operating procedures, and managing programmatic functions.

Coordinates strategic planning, develops policy recommendations concerning the development and use of genetic technologies, and enhances coordination and collaboration across HHS.

Keeps abreast of and participates, as appropriate, in national and international activities concerning genetic technologies and GDS policy, for the purpose of establishing strong lines of communication between OSP and outside agencies and organizations.

Prepares testimony, speeches, talking points, and informal remarks concerning genetic technology and genomic research issues for professional associations, conferences, advocacy groups, and the public. Provides supervisory leadership and administrative and technical guidance to staff.

In order to qualify for this position in the GS-601 General medical and Healthcare Series, you must have a bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree with a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this position.

This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector leading the analysis of health-related (e.g., biomedical) research policies, programs, and procedures.

This specialized experience includes responsibilities such as: developing and implementing biomedical research or genomic data sharing policies with internal and external stakeholders; analyzing the impact of proposed policies on current biomedical research procedures and practices; leading staff carry out scientific program priorities and objectives; providing advisory services to senior leadership on biomedical research policy issues affecting the organization; writing high level reports or testimony related to biomedical research policies or genetic technology issues and providing supervision and direction to other staff.
