Supervisory Economist

At the full performance level of this position, you will: Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities to promote an environment that empowers employees to participate in and contribute to effective mission accomplishment.

Oversee and contribute to advances in environmental economics through research and related activities that strengthen the analytic basis for quantifying the benefits and costs of agency regulations. Lead and direct economic, statistical, and other quantitative and qualitative analyses undertaken to inform regulatory and programmatic decisions.

Build coalitions within EPA, across government, and with external partners to advance economic methods and support evidence-based decisions. One or more positions may be filled (in the organization advertised and/or in other organizations), if appropriate to the position.

In addition to the basic entry education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below: To qualify for the GS-14 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level defined as conducting and reviewing quantitative analyses of the costs, benefits, and economic impacts of government programs or regulations; and applying economic research methodologies to improve the measurement and quantification of program benefits and costs.

To qualify for the GS-15 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level defined as leading teams of economists in conducting and reviewing quantitative analyses of the costs, benefits, and economic impacts of government programs or regulations; and conducting research to advance analytic capabilities for quantifying benefits and costs of government programs and regulations.
