This position is the Division Chief of Economic Analysis and Information (EA&I) for the Dallas Region and includes the following responsibilities: Serves as a Regional EA&I Supervisor providing leadership and direction for the EA&I functions carried out in the Regional Office.

Makes recommendations and decisions involving significant internal and external program and policy issues affecting the overall organization. Organizes and executes economic analysis of substantial breadth and complexity encompassing a wide range of socioeconomic data including most or all BLS programs and major programs of other Federal Agencies.

Reviews proposals, drafts and final submission for major publication articles for internal and external publications, to be produced by regional personnel. Represents the Regional Commissioner and the agency in media interviews, public presentations and other venues in a highly-visible environment.

Represents the agency with key and high level officials from governmental, academic, business and labor organizations. Supervises at least 25% of the time: Provides advice, counsel, and instruction to individual employees on performance and administrative matters; establish performance standards, evaluate performance, and rate subordinate employees.

Applicants must meet the basic education requirements, eligibility requirements of time-in-grade (52 weeks at the next lower grade), time-after-competitive-appointment (90 days), and minimum qualifications (52 weeks equivalent to the next lower grade in federal service).

These requirements must be met within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Economist, GS-0110: A) Degree in economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting or calculus.

OR B) A combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements above, applicants must also meet the minimum qualifications to be considered.

For GS-13: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-12, in the Federal Service.

Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to economics or statistics.

To be creditable, the experience must demonstrate a thorough understanding of economic principles and theories and a wide knowledge of current economic factors and their implications.

Examples of qualifying experience includes ALL of the following: Oversee and guide projects to support program development, improve business processes, facilitate production, and conduct research; and Organize tasks, set priorities, and schedule assignments to meet tight deadlines; and Communicate technical economic information with officials from government and private organizations at all levels.
