Provides strategic advice and guidance to senior leadership on broad science programs and projects, ensuring alignment with mission objectives and organizational priorities.

Oversees the analysis and interpretation of executive, legislative, budgetary, and agency process documents, to ensure organizational priorities and mission objectives align with applicable requirements.

Serves as SMD’s liaison to the Executive Office of the President, coordinating the development, review, and execution of actions.

Develops and maintains relationships with stakeholders across NASA, the federal government, private industry, and universities to advance science programs and projects.

Oversees the development, coordination, and executive review of testimonies, congressional correspondence and reports, white papers, and staff briefings, and responses to congressional actions.

Oversees SMD’s Partnership process, Office of Inspector General, and Government Accountability Office Audits, and other cross-cutting strategic functions.

Manages the internal and external operations of the branch to accomplish science mission objectives and goals.

Perform a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Providing expert advice and guidance on broad science programs and projects; Coordinating with the Executive Office of the President, Congress, and other government agencies on high-visibility science mission-related initiatives and activities; Authoring, analyzing, and interpreting high-level executive and legislative documents.
