The Opportunity

This position works out of our Coyol Free Zone location in the Structural Heart Division. Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life through the design and provision of device and management solutions for the treatment of structural heart disease.

As the Supply Chain Manager (Purchasing) , you´ll be responsible to manage all aspects of Purchasing, Production Planning and scheduling, Inventory Management, Receiving/ Warehouse and Material Handling for the CR Structural Heart Business Unit. Design and execute strategies and plans to meet Abbott’s short-term and long-term supply chain management requirements.

This position works closely with divisional supply chain management personnel to ensure local production expectations are met and are reasonably forecast. Assigns work based on priorities necessary to support production to meet plans. Expediently initiates investigations of problems. Exercises judgment in planning and organizing work; monitors performance and reports status. Uses best business practices to ensure success in areas of responsibility.

What You’ll Do

Manages the overall department’s staff to ensure business continuity and alignment with divisional plans and expectations.

Participates with Sales and Operations planning (S&OP) forums aimed at aligning production requirements with manufacturing’s capacity so that they meet build plans. Monitors execution of plan, Back-orders and relevant finish goods replenishment strategies. Responsible for overall inventory management.

Ensures product availability aimed at enabling production plans. This includes direct and indirect materials. Responsible for cost savings initiatives and projects and Purchasing Price Variances (PPV) for assigned commodities. In collaboration with the quality team, ensure sourcing compliance and overall supplier performance. Collaborates with commodity managers in the deployment of corporate sourcing strategies.

Manages overall freight spend, collaborates in supplier management, evaluation of bids and overall freight optimization initiatives. Responsible material flow through the facility to include but not limited to warehousing, material handling to and from manufacturing lines and distribution of finish goods. Manages overall space utilization for warehousing. Ensure quality compliance as it related to material movement.

Responsible in collaboration with Supplier Quality for resolution of issues related to purchased components and supplier compliance to specifications. Supports the introduction of new products and related activities; validation activities as they related to sourcing initiatives and overall department projects. Ensure quality and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.

5+ years of experience of managing in a manufacturing environment.

Advance Command of English.

Must have working knowledge of materials/manufacturing systems, Lean Manufacturing, and SAP experience.

Computer Knowledge in programs as Excel, Word & Power Point.

Preferred Qualifications

Master Degree is desirable.

Preferred Knowledge in GMP/ISO9002.

Preferably 10+ years of experience in production planning capacity or purchasing/commodity management areas.

Knowledge of MRP systems is a plus.
