Job Title: Distributed Systems Architect Location: 100% Remote (U.S.) Position Type: Full-time, Direct W2 Salary Range: $130,000–$160,000 Annually Experience Required: 6+ years Sponsorship: U.S. Citizens, Green Card Holders, EAD Holders, and H-1B transfer candidates are encouraged to apply.
We are unable to sponsor new H-1B visa petitions for this position. Job Summary We are seeking a seasoned Distributed Systems Architect to lead the design and evolution of large-scale microservices ecosystems built on modern container platforms and cloud-native technology stacks.
The role requires deep expertise in service decomposition, domain-driven design, distributed data management, and runtime concerns such as resilience, observability, and security at scale.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on architectural leadership across complex transformations, with a clear point of view on when microservices are the right answer, how to evolve them safely, and how to keep the resulting estate maintainable over the long term. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
Eight or more years of software engineering experience, with several years in architecture roles.
Deep expertise in microservices design, domain-driven design, and distributed systems patterns.
Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and service mesh technologies.
Proficiency in at least one major backend language such as Java, Go, or C#.
Strong understanding of API design, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous messaging.
Experience operating high-traffic, latency-sensitive systems in production.
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms and managed services across at least one major provider.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead architecture initiatives spanning multiple teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with platform engineering and internal developer platform construction.
Familiarity with Istio, Linkerd, Envoy, or comparable service mesh technologies.
Exposure to FinOps practices and cloud cost optimization at scale.
Public speaking, open-source contributions, or published technical writing.
Experience in regulated industries with strict compliance requirements.
