C++ Software Engineer (Desktop App)

What we are looking for

We need an experienced software engineer with strong C++ expertise and a track record of building and maintaining commercial software applications.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

5+ years of professional software development experience building and maintaining commercial software applications.

Strong professional experience with C++ in a large object-oriented codebase.

Experience with object-oriented design principles, software design patterns, and modern software engineering practices.

Experience designing and implementing maintainable, extensible software solutions.

Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.

Experience participating in code reviews and promoting coding standards and engineering best practices.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across development, QA, product, and business stakeholders.

Experience with C#, .NET, WPF, and SQL.

Experience working on large, long-lived desktop applications.

Experience reducing technical debt while balancing feature delivery.

Experience mentoring developers and providing technical leadership.

Familiarity with engineering, CAD, manufacturing, or other complex technical software domains.

We are seeking an experienced software engineer to join the Vision Desktop application team. This role will partner with senior technical leaders to improve the architecture, maintainability, and long-term health of a large, mature C++ application. We need someone who is a strong software engineer first, with a passion for clean code, sound software design, and mentoring others.

In this role, we will expect you to

Collaborate with senior technical leaders to evolve the application’s architecture for long-term sustainability.

Improve maintainability by applying clean code practices and sound software design.

Support modernization of engineering practices while working within an established product.

Take ownership of software quality, long-term maintainability, and risk reduction.

Participate in code reviews and help promote coding standards and engineering best practices.

Debug complex issues, troubleshoot effectively, and perform root-cause analysis.

Work cross-functionally with development, QA, product, and business stakeholders to deliver outcomes.

Mentor others and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
