Supervisory Police Officer (Operations)

Serve as the primary person responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of law enforcement programs, policies, and procedures under the direction of the Chief of Police.

Conduct long-range and day-to-day planning of operations of subordinate activities ensuring consideration of all assigned areas of responsibility.

Recommend updates to policy letters, memorandums, and guidelines pertaining to the conduct and performance of assigned law enforcement activities.

Maintain controls on all overtime worked in the unit.

Conduct long-range and day-to-day planning of operations of subordinate activities ensuring consideration of all assigned areas of responsibility.

Take charge of crime and accident scenes and directs and oversees law enforcement operations.

Attend meetings with directors, managers, supervisors of other FHNY directorates/organizations on police operations and services required of the police force.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Planning, directing, and/or reviewing the activities of police officers; 2) assigning work to subordinate police officers; 3) observing and evaluating the work performance of police officers; and 4) Participating in investigations; utilizing basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and/or techniques involved for maintaining order and protecting life and property.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
