The posting

You will be responsible for the comprehensive planning and specification development of critical mechanical systems supporting facility construction, maintenance, and modernization efforts.

You will develop complex designs and analyses utilizing advanced mechanical engineering software, such as AUTOCAD, CADCAM, or equivalent computer programs.

You will make site investigation field trips to project sites to collect all pertinent data and refine or develop project scope by inspecting the existing conditions and participating in meetings with sponsoring activity.

You will perform reviews and check projects by in-house engineers and architects.

You will conduct various studies, monitor project progress, and prepare quarterly reports.

You will investigate and/or evaluate mechanical issues and concerns in existing facilities to develop reports that includes recommendations and options for remediation or corrective measures, as applicable.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing technical reviews of facilities construction drawings and specifications for mechanical adequacy, compliance with functional requirements, and conformity with standard engineering and construction practices; 2) Designing and developing layouts, construction drawings and specifications for facility mechanical systems such as heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, utilities, fuel handling, and industrial ventilation; 3) Performing engineering services in support of Architectural and Engineering Contracts such as writing statements of work, estimating fees, negotiation, performance monitoring, and evaluation of bids; 4) Visiting construction sites to routinely identify mechanical and/or Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) problems and obtain solutions.
