About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and versatile Japan Consumer Marketing Manager to develop and execute locally relevant consumer programs in one of our most important and culturally nuanced markets.
Reporting to the Japan Marketing Lead, this is a hands-on role for a full-stack consumer marketer with deep understanding of the Japanese consumer landscape—someone who can translate strategy into locally resonant campaigns, shape narratives that build trust, and accelerate adoption and repeat usage at scale. The ideal candidate combines strong consumer marketing instincts with excellent execution in complex, cross-functional environments.
This role will manage integrated initiatives spanning brand, product storytelling, digital, social, creators, partnerships, community, and lifecycle, while representing the voice of Japanese consumers internally.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute Japan-specific consumer marketing plans under the Japan Marketing Lead, ensuring strong local relevance while aligning with global priorities.
Drive full-funnel initiatives that grow users and weekly active users, deepen activation and repeat usage, and improve retention, advocacy, and sentiment.
Act as a local expert and thought partner—bringing deep insights into Japanese culture, consumer behavior, and media dynamics to inform strategy, creative, and execution.
Manage and collaborate with local agencies, creators, and production partners to deliver culturally authentic, high-quality campaigns and content.
Partner closely with cross-functional teams including product marketing, communications, partnerships, and regional leadership to deliver integrated programs with clear impact.
Represent the voice of Japan internally, ensuring local nuance, context, and market realities are reflected in marketing strategy, messaging, and decision-making.
Qualifications
7+ years of marketing experience, with a strong track record of delivering high-impact consumer campaigns and measurable user or usage growth in Japan.
Deep understanding of the Japanese consumer landscape, cultural context, and local media and marketing ecosystems.
Proven ability to build and execute integrated marketing plans across brand, digital, influencer/creator, and partner channels.
Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on executional levels in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
Strong network of local agencies, creatives, creators, and production partners; demonstrated experience managing external partners.
Excellent communicator and collaborator, with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions and geographies.
