Job Summary

Blavity Inc. is looking for a temporary Email Marketing Coordinator . This role will own the full newsletter production schedule across four brands Blavity, AfroTech, Travel Noire, and HealthStack while maintaining audience health and contributing to weekly KPI reporting.

This is a high-volume, execution-focused role. The ideal candidate has direct experience with Iterable and can build and send 6-8 newsletters per day across a mix of RSS-automated and fully manual builds with confidence.

All workflows are documented; the expectation is that you follow established processes precisely while flagging issues clearly and escalating when needed. The ideal candidate will implement updates including newsletter redesigns, send time optimization, and template rebuilds, as directed without disrupting the send schedule.

This role will report to the Director of Growth Marketing.

Responsibilities

Send Execution (primary focus)

Own 6-8 newsletter sends per day across four brands, building each according to documented workflows and the established send calendar

Execute a mix of RSS-automated and fully manual builds, each requiring property-specific preparation work completed before every send

Apply editorial judgment to manual properties, drawing on content performance data to inform curation decisions

Communicate proactively and professionally with editorial, creative, and engineering stakeholders providing timely status updates, flagging blockers early, and escalating issues with clear context

Administer Pre-Send QA, a checklist that covers copy and content, links and assets, suppression and compliance, audience and list integrity, technical rendering, and scheduling

Maintain a clear, up-to-date picture of your full send schedule and build windows, and communicate proactively when that schedule is affected.

KPI & Benchmark Reporting

Maintain weekly audience snapshots and list health metrics across all properties

Contribute to bi-weekly KPI reporting, highlighting editorial newsletter metrics and trends

Communicate proactively on task status, including when work is in progress or behind

Platform Coordination

Navigate Iterable across its full feature set: campaign builds, audience management, analytics, and template tools

Identify and document platform issues clearly, distinguishing between platform-side problems and execution errors, and escalate to the right team with full context

Required Experience

Hands-on experience with Iterable is required. You must be able to navigate campaign builds, audience lists, segmentation, and drag-and-drop templates from day one.

Experience managing high-volume email production: multiple properties, multiple sends per week, across a mix of automated and manual workflows

Demonstrated QA discipline: ability to follow a multi-step checklist under time pressure without skipping steps

Ability to read campaign analytics and identify patterns: open rates, click-through rates, engagement data

Strong process discipline: documented workflows must be followed exactly; the ability to execute consistently without reinventing the approach is essential

Clear communication: proactive about flagging blockers, escalating issues, and reporting progress, even when work is incomplete

Ability to research answers independently using available tools before escalating. Comfort using AI tools and platform-native resources to get unstuck is expected.

Proficiency in Claude, Google Suite, and Asana

Preferred Experience

HTML/CSS for email

Google Analytics for editorial content performance analysis

Experience with editorial newsletter properties serving Black and multicultural audiences

What Success Looks Like

A strong temp in this role is reliable, motivated, data-centric, and communicative. In the first 30 days, success means:

All newsletters go out on schedule with no missed sends

Every send has a completed QA checklist and documented approval before it goes out

Briefings, inclusions, and list snapshots are completed before deadlines without reminders

Platform and content issues are flagged to the manager quickly, with clear context

KPI data is entered accurately with anomalies noted

Slack messages are acknowledged; the manager is never uncertain whether instructions have been seen

Each send reflects the brand it represents. Voice, standards, and audience expectations are understood and applied consistently.

At 60–90 days, success means the team continues operating at its normal pace or better with in-flight design and strategy projects progressing on schedule.
