Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC)

Provide strategic leadership and serve as an executive liaison for cybersecurity.

Lead and manage the IT security workforce.

Manage Cybersecurity Operations, including policy and governance; security operations; and risk management.

EXPERIENCE Experience must be IT-related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Specialized Experience: For the Band V (GS-15), you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the Band IV (GS-14) in the Federal service.

Experience for this position includes managing, supervising, and leading the overall IT security program including security policies, procedures, applications and tools designed to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data, systems, and networks critical to the support of the mission; supervisory experience managing security.

Knowledge of Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) and National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST) standards. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP®) certification or higher is preferred but not required.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
