SI2O delivers and facilitates data and information sharing to enable insights, innovation, performance measurement and strategic decision making for the Department's mission support operations.
With a focus on data science, analytics, reporting, data and information sharing and governance, and mission support, SI2O strives to build a culture of data driven decision making and to enhance the workforce's ability to leverage data and analytics. The primary purpose of this position is to lead the SI2O Capabilities Branch.
As a IT Specialist (INFOSEC/SYSANALYST), GS-2210-14, your typical work assignments may include the following: Providing support to the Sl2O team in identifying, collecting and analyzing data, enhancing decision-making by generating reports / dashboards using visual applications and analytical software tools, and ensuring information and systems security compliance with DHS security and privacy policies.
Applying analytical processes to planning, designing, and implementing new and improved information management functionality to meet the business requirements of the DHS Cube. Assisting with developing tailored data plans for source systems to improve how the DHS Cube collects, uses, manages and publishes data within and across functions.

Applicants can meet the minimum qualification through certification, licensure, registration(s), or A substantial record of experience, achievement, and publications that demonstrate eminence in the appropriate profession/technical field or evidence in their resume of the below competencies.
Basic Qualification: Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Decision Making: Makes sound, well-informed, and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to action, even in uncertain situations, to accomplish organizational goals; causes change.
Information Management: Identifies a need for and knows where or how to gather information; organizes and maintains information or information management systems.
Interpersonal Skills: Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; may include effectively dealing with individuals who are difficult, hostile, or distressed; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations.
Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Teamwork: Encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity; fosters commitment and team spirit; works with others to achieve goals.
Technical Competence: Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues. In addition to the basic qualification, you must also possess the specialized experience.
Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: Identifying, collecting and analyzing data, enhancing decision-making by generating reports / dashboards using visual applications and analytical software tools, and ensuring information and systems security compliance with security and privacy policies; Making decisions or recommendations that significantly influence important agency IT policies or programs; AND Managing and tracking requirements with systems owners throughout the development lifecycle to support the development of data-driven solutions.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level. All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
Note: Current or former Federal employees MUST submit a copy of their SF-50 Form which shows competitive service appointment ("position occupied" block 34 on the SF-50 should show a "1"), tenure group (block 24 should show a 1 or 2), grade, and salary.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
