Life Scientist/Environmental Engineer/Physical Scientist

You will: Provide policy and procedural guidance to state/local/tribal air agencies and work with them to coordinate and develop regulations, required revisions to State Implementation Plans (SIP), and source-specific SIP actions.

Initiate State Implementation Plan rulemaking actions and recommendations for approving or disapproving state-submitted SIP revisions after performing review and evaluation of technical, procedural, and regulatory compliance and Clean Air Act requirements.

Provide technical assistance to state/local/tribal air pollution control agencies on control measures and strategies to meet the requirements of the Clean Air Act related to National Ambien Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) and other control programs, including the development or revision of SIPs.

In addition to the basic entry education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below: To qualify for the GS-12 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level defined as providing policy/procedural guidance to state, local, and/or tribal agencies to develop regulations or required revisions to State Implementation Plans (SIP); and conducting rulemaking actions for approval/disapproval of state-submitted source-specific SIP revisions.
