Maintenance Mechanic

You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic, WG-4749-10 and be responsible for preventative, emergency, and routine service work as a Maintenance Mechanic in refrigeration, heating ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing trades throughout the grounds. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include: Logging expenditures of time and materials; and scheduling, accomplishing, and recording completion of work tasks. Following established preventative maintenance schedules and manufactures maintenance instructions.

Repairing and maintaining large air conditioning systems that performs a variety of functions including heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cleaning, filtering, and circulating.

Installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility supply and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil and gas distribution systems and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, and showers. Maintaining, repairing, and installing as necessary water distribution systems and components.

To qualify for the Maintenance Mechanic, WG-4749-10, applicants must meet the following screen-out job element to be considered for this position: - Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT ELEMENT) - Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc. - Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) - Use of measuring instruments - Ability to interpret instructions, specification, etc.

(includes blueprint reading) - Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment - Knowledge of materials Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience.
