Goody Clancy seeks a Project Architect to join our collaborative and mission-driven team. As a Boston-based education design firm, we partner with institutions on a variety of new-construction, renewal, and preservation projects to create environments where people are inspired to research, connect, strive, and wonder.

Project Architects actively engage in all project phases and are given many opportunities for growth and continued learning. The best candidate for this position will have experience and/or a demonstrated interest in education projects, and a familiarity in historic preservation/building renovations is a plus.

We are looking for creative, collaborative, and motivated professionals who are driven by a belief in the power of design to advance discovery, community, and opportunity.

Position Summary

In this role, you will contribute to the full design and delivery process, supporting the development of thoughtful, high‑quality architectural solutions. You will collaborate closely with project leaders, designers, technical staff, and external partners to advance project goals and uphold strong design and documentation standards.

Your work will span conceptual design through construction documents, including technical detailing, coordination, site observations, and research-informed planning. You will also engage directly with clients and consultants, representing the firm with professionalism and design clarity.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the development of design concepts, technical solutions, and project documentation

Collaborate with principals, project managers, designers, and technical staff across all project phases

Produce drawings, details, and models that support design intent and technical accuracy

Coordinate with consultants and assist in integrating structural, MEP, and specialty systems

Support quality control through careful documentation, review, and adherence to standards

Conduct site visits, field measurements, and existing-conditions assessments

Assist with project research, including codes, materials, cost benchmarks, and precedents

Participate in client and stakeholder meetings, helping communicate design ideas and project updates

Travel as needed for site review, documentation, and client engagement

Qualifications

Professional degree in architecture or preservation; architectural registration preferred

5–10+ years of architectural experience, including design and technical development

Strong design sensibility and solid understanding of building systems and construction methods

Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office

Collaborative, detail-oriented, and adaptable team member

Ability to make sound design and technical decisions based on experience and research

Experience with education, renovation, or preservation projects is desirable

Compensation/Benefits

Salaried position: $95,000-120,000/annually

Participation in a 100% employee‑owned firm through our Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP)

Hybrid workplace: In-office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; optional WFH days Tuesday and Friday
