As a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY) (TITLE 32), GS-0203-5/6/7, you will assist a higher graded specialist in researching/studying/analyzing and administering all aspects of the assigned function(s). Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Provides technical assistance to all reporting officials.
Quality reviews reports for compliance with current directives and standards. Assists in the management of the military awards and decorations program. Coordinates, monitors, and ensures accountability of annual tour participation. Monitors Line of Duty (LOO) determinations and incapacitation pay requests.
Ensures compliance with suspense requirements. Researches Unit Personnel Record Group (UPRG) and various source documents pertinent to service data discrepancies. Computes service dates as required. Authenticates prior and non-prior service enlistments, and prepares and processes enlistment and appointment documents.
Participates in processing activities for accessions. Determines eligibility for officer appointments, requests waivers, schedules interviews, and prepares and accession and gain of each officer. Suspense packages to ensure timely (UPMR) and identifies and resolves problems involving mismatches, over-grade/under-grade and/or overage situations.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence, The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will be all U.S. Citizens.
Military Grades: Enlisted only - NTE E-6 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position with experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-7 Level MUST possess at least 1-year equivalent to at least GS-6; comprehensive knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and precedents relating to the area of assignment; knowledge of computer databases, personnel management systems and pay management systems; knowledge of processing a variety of unique official personnel tasks.
GS-6 Level MUST possess at least 1-year equivalent to at least GS-5; experience reviewing or processing actions such as accessions, discharges/separations, promotions, awards, reductions, transfers, boards, etc; experience researching to solve problems, experience corresponding professionally with other military personnel.
GS-5 Level MUST possess at least 1-year equivalent to at least GS-4 or at least 4-years of education beyond high school level.
