How to become a solutions architect
A solutions architect takes a customer's or a business unit's problem and turns it into a system design that other engineers can build, then stays close enough to the build to catch it when reality disagrees with the diagram. The confusion is usually with software architect: that role optimizes one codebase, this one sits between sales, engineering, and a client who has opinions about budget and timeline. You spend as much time defending a design in a room as you spent drawing it.
What the work is like
