WELDER SUPVERVISOR I

You will plan daily/weekly sequence of work operations for subordinates supervised.

You will explain difficult work procedures and methods and provide instructions in regard to completion of work projects.

You will ensure proper quantity of work from subordinates, and inspect work for quality.

You will keep all work operations under observation and control; troubleshoot and resolve working problems and take action to overcome bottlenecks, equipment breakdowns, material shortages and other causes of delays and inefficiencies

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Demonstrated knowledge and practical skills in the basic elements of the welding trade (Heliarc Welding). Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions and blueprints and prepare sketches and work orders.

In-depth knowledge of basic shop mathematics, with the skills and knowledge necessary to set up and operate electric resistance welding machines. Ability to pass a yearly certification test. Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
