Barista

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Barista to join our café team in Galway, Ireland. As a Barista, you will be at the heart of our operation, crafting exceptional coffee beverages and delivering outstanding customer service in a fast-paced, welcoming environment. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with genuine warmth, ensuring every customer leaves with a smile and a perfectly prepared drink.

• Prepare and serve a variety of espresso-based beverages, speciality coffees, and other hot and cold drinks to the highest standard

Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other café equipment, ensuring they are clean and functioning optimally

• Steam and froth milk with precision to create consistent, high-quality microfoam for cappuccinos, lattes, and flat whites
• Provide friendly, efficient customer service, taking orders accurately and responding to customer preferences and requests

Maintain a clean and hygienic work station, adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times

• Process payments using the point-of-sale system and handle cash transactions accurately

Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth café operations during busy periods

• Stock and rotate supplies, including coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other ingredients
• Engage with customers to build rapport, answer questions about our coffee offerings, and make recommendations
• Contribute to a positive team atmosphere and support colleagues in delivering excellent service

Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar café/hospitality role

• Proficiency in operating espresso machines and coffee preparation equipment
• Strong knowledge of coffee extraction techniques, grinding, tamping, and milk steaming
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour

Ability to multitask efficiently in a busy environment whilst maintaining attention to detail

• Sound understanding of food hygiene and health and safety regulations
• Competence with point-of-sale systems and cash handling
• Strong communication and people skills
• Ability to work flexibly, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends

Barista certification or formal training in coffee preparation (desirable)

• Experience creating latte art and decorative beverage designs (desirable)
• Knowledge of different coffee origins, roasts, and flavour profiles (desirable)
• Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and contribute positively to the workplace culture
