This is the national 24/7 domestic, family and sexual violence counselling, information, and support service. 1800RESPECT provides free, confidential support for people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, domestic, family, and sexual violence, including workplace sexual harassment.
The Service also provides support for friends, family, and professionals. About the role As a First Response Counsellor in these part-time or full-time positions, you'll provide trauma-informed support via phone, video, web chat, and SMS in a fast-paced contact centre environment. What you'll be doing
Conducting risk and safety assessments
Providing counselling, information, referrals, and support
Connecting people with appropriate services and pathways to safety
What you'll bring to the role
Strong understanding of domestic, family, sexual violence, and sexual assault practices
Experience working in trauma-informed and person-centred frameworks
Proven ability to navigate multiple systems and applications such as Microsoft Teams and CRM platforms
Demonstrated experience in providing high levels of support and care to service users
A suitable private, confidential, distraction free workspace
A non-satellite 5G or NBN internet connection
Minimum internet speeds of 50Mbps download and 20Mbps upload
A hard-wired internet connection using Ethernet or Powerline adapters, as Wi-Fi is not supported
About you
You'll hold a relevant bachelor’s qualification (minimum three years) that meets professional registration requirements
You'll hold a current registration with, or be eligible for registration with one of the following:
PACFA – Clinical Registration
ACA – Level 3 or above
AASW – Full Membership
AHPRA – General Registration as a Psychologist
You'll have at least three years’ full-time counselling experience post qualification
A current Working with Children Check
Availability to complete 2 weeks of full-time onboarding prior to commencement
