A minimum 24 semester hours of Spanish coursework or a minimum score of Intermediate High on OPI from ACTFL is required.
A minimum of 6 semester hours of theory and methodology of teaching a foreign language is required. 0438 Teacher, ESL (Secondary) Must meet the Minimum Academic Preparation and Requirements in addition to the category specific requirements. A minimum of 24 semester hours in English Language Development (ESL/TESOL) is required.
Course work must include a course in sociolinguistics, and a minimum of 6 semester hours in the methods of teaching English as a second language. Must be certified or certifiable in middle school or secondary English.
