This notice is issued under direct-hire authority to recruit new talent to occupations for which NIST has a severe shortage of candidates.
Working as a Systems Administrator for the Office of Information Systems, Infrastructure Services Division, you will manage, maintain, optimize and troubleshoot Hybrid Cloud systems to include VMWare, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud systems and provide technical leadership and oversight of the NIST Hybrid Cloud through workflow and service delivery automation, identification of operational issues, and prevention of service degradation.
Applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level (ZP-III at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as: providing system administration and development for Hybrid Cloud Services.
Specifically: Implementing lifecycle management for IT assets provisioned through the system, including creating and scheduling reports. Performing Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service management to include Incident, Problem, and Change management.
Providing functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation, and implementation for server systems.
Assisting in designing, writing, testing, and debugging PowerShell, Ansible, Python or similar automation languages Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
