Project Overview

Bechtel's Manufacturing & Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing and building an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) Manufacturing Facility located at Generation Park in Houston, TX. M&T is an exciting and growing business unit that serves customers in the semiconductor, datacenter, life sciences, and electric vehicle markets.

Job Summary

In this role you will be responsible for coordinating complex structural engineering tasks between our design teams, the construction team at site and the structural steel fabrication vendor to facilitate smooth production and erection of structural steel for the project. You will engage with our partners proactively to identify key roadblocks early and work to resolve them. You will be responsible for coordinating resolutions of PTRs as they arise on the Structural Scope of the project.

Major Responsibilities

Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs)

Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering

Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements

Originates and checks complex structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions

Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions

Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements

Plans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations

Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations

Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Civil/Structural requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution

Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
