Why This Role Matters The RNE (Registration, Numbers and Enablement) group within Vonage 's Foundation Engineering department works across four core product domains: Registration, Numbers, Number Intelligence, and Know Your Customer (KYC).

Our senior engineers play a key role in driving technical quality and platform evolution, working on a modern cloud-native stack across both greenfield and existing systems. What You Will Do

Design and develop highly concurrent, distributed backend services with a focus on high availability;

Take solid ownership of architectural contributions, driving technical decisions within and across teams;

Lead performance optimisation efforts and proactively diagnose complex system issues;

Design, develop and test new features, setting a high bar for quality and reliability;

Support the release and documentation of developed features;

Define and champion coding standards and development processes;

Mentor and support more junior engineers within the team;

Provide out-of-hours support as part of an on-call rota.

What You Will Bring Essential

Strong programming skills in Go (Golang) or deep experience with JVM technologies (Java/Spring Boot) and a strong desire to move to Go;

Proven experience developing and maintaining enterprise-grade systems at scale;

Solid experience with highly concurrent, distributed architectures and systems;

Solid experience contributing to and driving architectural decisions;

Experience with containerised applications and cloud-native environments;

Experience profiling and optimising performance at scale;

Experience building REST/HTTP based services;

Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Redis);

Strong test suite design skills, including Unit, Integration and Smoke tests, enabling safe promotion of code to production without manual intervention;

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical problems and solutions clearly.

Nice to Have

Hands-on experience with AWS (SQS, SNS, DynamoDB), Kafka, Kubernetes or Terraform;

Understanding of Continuous Delivery in cloud environments;

General understanding of the telecommunications industry.
