Junior Software Engineer (m/f/d) - focus on iOS

YOUR TEAM We are seeking a Junior Software Engineer with focus on iOS to join our team to further develop the modern ottonova software ecosystem. In addition, you will have the opportunity to participate in our Mobile and Architecture Chapters, where experience is shared among all Software Engineers in the company. This will enable you to learn and grow as an Engineer at an accelerated pace.

As a Junior iOS Engineer you work with a cross-functional team to build features in ottonova's iOS app. You work closely with our product manager, other mobile native engineers, designers as well as backend developers and actively help shape the future of our products. The team is based in Munich and works in a hybrid setup.

YOUR IMPACT Enhancing existing features and developing new features: Work with other developers to help further develop our iOS app

Drive development: Contribute to building new features while ensuring the codebase remains reliable, maintainable, and high performing

Owning your code: Take responsibility for testing your work, including writing automated UI test frameworks (XCUITest/XCTest)

Documenting and reviewing: Participate in code reviews and document your work to ensure knowledge sharing, continuous learning and maintainable solutions

Share your ideas: Bring creativity and problem-solving skills to the table, helping us redefine how people perceive health insurance

Along with a positive work ethic and manner and a willingness to learn and develop both personally and professionally, you will bring the following to the table: You are interested in producing high-quality software: testing, code reviews and clean coding practices

You are able to clearly express and discuss technical concepts and write technical documentation

You have a proficient level of written and spoken English as well as clear and effective communication skills

You have a good understanding of your personal toolset: your OS, Xcode, debugging tools and AI assisted development

You enjoy great mobile UX and working closely with designers

You complement your profile with basic knowledge of: Swift

Building UI on iOS (UIKit and/or SwiftUI)

Concurrency basics (async/await, main-thread safety)

Knowledge about reactive programming (RxSwift)

Version control (Git)

Unit testing

Advantages.

Not a requirement, but a plus would be the following aspects: A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

Experience with RxSwift

Experience with Memory management

Familiarity with architecture patterns (e.g. MVVM)

Experience consuming REST APIs

Knowledge about Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP)

Personal projects, an App Store release, or open-source contributions

Experience with Scrum

German language skills

Any other knowledge and skills that will help us build the best health insurance in the world!
