This position is approved for the Education Debt Reduction Program (ERDP) which will pay up to $200,000 in qualifying student loans over a term of five years! The Inpatient Program Manager will provide clinical and administrative oversight to the Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program and the Inpatient Mental Health Unit.
This includes but is not limited to program development, veteran and staff education, community outreach, evaluation, and both facility-based and Care in the Community coordination of admissions.
You will work with veterans and their family members to facilitate the development of a comprehensive program of recovery to meet their needs across inpatient treatment service as well as case management referrals. The incumbent is administratively responsible for clinical programming for veterans, including the use of evidence-based practices.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: Implement measures to assess effectiveness of existing and proposed treatment programs and modalities, to ensure that the highest standards are met Administratively responsible for program operations Develops policies and procedures for program operations, and prepares reports and statistics for the facility, VISN, and national use Provides leadership, direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing education to staff and student interns Tracks service activities including sessions, referrals, patient demographics, equipment utilization, and patient satisfaction Coordinates admissions and aftercare for the programs Provides administration with briefings and critical incidents Complete all patient safety reporting requirements are completed in a timely fashion Advising and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams throughout the medical center on all program related issues Provides analysis and evaluation of clinical program data and computerized programs to identify system-wide trends and needs to enhance the quality of service Oversee program operations, program evaluation, identifying areas for improvement, gathering relevant data, assessing the data, developing and implementing ideas for improvement, and evaluating efficacy of improvement efforts Work as a liaison between the VA and community agencies Actively participates in VA-sponsored training and education on issues impacting substance abuse and co-occurring disorders, sharing that knowledge through training when requested by the Social Work and MH/BM leadership Plays an active role in working with recovering veterans to coordinate a viable and successful program of treatment Assures programs are following all Joint Commission (JACHO) and CARF standards Other related duties as assigned Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am to 430pm (position will include on-call rotation for social work department) Compressed/Flexible: Not Available Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Language: Applicants must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j.
Education: You must have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited.
A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
Grade Determinations GS-12: Licensure: You must have a current and active license or are certified by a state to independently practice social work at the advanced practice level which included an advanced generalist or clinical examination, unless they are grandfathered by the state in which they are licensed to practice at the advanced practice level (except for licenses issued in California, which administers its own clinical examination for advanced practice) and they must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Specialized Experience: You must possess one year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency.
Examples of specialized experience at the GS-11 include, but are not limited to: assessing and documenting identified behaviors or symptoms of abuse, neglect, exploitation and/or intimate partner violence; use of clinical social work skills; maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality per policies, handbooks or directives; acting as an advocate with appropriate community service providers and agencies when it serves the best interest of the patient and family members/caregiver; independently assessing the psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and their family members, identifying the patient's strengths, weaknesses, coping skills, and psychosocial acuity.
GS-12 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: In addition to meeting the licensure and experience or education for the GS-11 level, you must demonstrate the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.
