Lead Social Worker

Provides independent clinical social work services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, therapeutic intervention, and behavioral health support for individuals, families, and groups.

Responds to behavioral health crises by conducting risk assessments, implementing crisis intervention techniques, coordinating safety planning, and providing stabilization services.

Provides clinical case management and care coordination services through collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, community resources, tribal programs, and outside agencies.

Maintains clinical documentation, participates in interdisciplinary meetings, and serves as a resource on trauma-informed care, culture-responsive practices, and behavioral health services.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: Must fulfill all of the requirements for the Master's degree in Social Work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Graduates of schools of Social Work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. Degree verification can be done at http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to confirm that the social work degree meets the 3 accreditation standards for a Master's of Social Work.

Licensure: You must possess an active, unrestricted U.S. State license as an independent clinical social work license (LCSW, LICSW, LISW, or equivalent) authorizing diagnosis and treatment without supervision. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Conducting biopsychosocial assessments; developing diagnostic impressions and treatment plans; providing psychotherapy counseling, crisis intervention, behavioral health services, and case management; assessing risk factors and determining appropriate clinical interventions for patients experiencing behavioral health crises; coordinating care with interdisciplinary teams, community resources, tribal programs, and outside agencies; maintaining clinical documentation and case records; providing consultation and treatment recommendations; and offering guidance, mentoring, coordination, and support within clinical or behavioral health settings.

Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
