Who we are

Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud, which is a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations.

At Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy.

Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries are the infrastructure of our planet, including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing — and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at scale.

Working at Samsara means you’ll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team that’s shaping an exciting array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, and Equipment Monitoring. As part of a recently public company, you’ll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.

About the role

The Senior Security Engineer – Enterprise Security shares ownership of the day-to-day operation of the Samsara security environment. You will keep our network access, device trust, and visibility systems running, tuned, and resilient at enterprise scale in partnership with a global team. Utilizing modern principles, you’ll maintain and evolve a modern zero trust program, spend time both on policy design and real-time triage for escalations.

You take security seriously and believe the best solutions are low-friction and built in partnership with others. You are comfortable owning and maintaining production systems for long term success - troubleshooting systemic issues, tuning policies based on real incidents, and continuously improving what is already built.

You bring an automation mindset to repetitive work, whether using Python, SOAR platforms, or AI-assisted tools. You enjoy supporting teammates and helping other engineers build their security knowledge.

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in California, Hawaii, Oregon, Nevada, and Washington. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.

About the Team

Enterprise Security is a global team spanning the US, EMEA, and India. We work in close partnership with our coworkers as collaborators rather than gatekeepers. Leadership is hands-on and technical, and our culture encourages everyone to contribute across the full stack.

Executive leadership actively champions security as a competitive advantage that builds customer trust and helps win enterprise partnerships. You will see a direct line between the zero trust systems you operate and the security that protects our physical operations partners worldwide. Our on-call rotation for the highest severity incidents is spread evenly across the team for one week out of every ten.

You should apply if

You want to impact the industries that run our world: Your efforts will result in real-world impact – helping to keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, reduce emissions, and most importantly, ensure workers return home safely.

You are the architect of your own career: If you put in the work, this role won’t be your last at Samsara. We set up our employees for success and have built a culture that encourages rapid career development, countless opportunities to experiment and master your craft in a hyper growth environment.

You’re energized by our opportunity: The vision we have to digitize large sectors of the global economy requires your full focus and best efforts to bring forth creative, ambitious ideas for our customers.

You want to be with the best: At Samsara, we win together, celebrate together and support each other. You will be surrounded by a high-calibre team that will encourage you to do your best.

In this role, you will

Co-own the day-to-day operation, triage, and tuning of the Samsara zero trust environment by responding to escalations, investigating anomalies, and resolving issues

Continuously improve existing zero trust policies and workflows based on real usage patterns and incident learnings

Write clear, concise documentation and runbooks for enterprise security workflows

Collaborate with partners across Engineering, IT, and Security to ensure proper implementation of security tools and policies

Assist the Security Operations team during security investigations, acting as a technical subject matter expert within your domain

Partner with engineering teams to triage and support remediation of vulnerabilities and misconfigurations

Mentor engineers on the Security team to grow their domain knowledge, tool-specific skills, and communication abilities

Champion, role model, and embed Samsara cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team)

Minimum requirements for the role

5+ years of relevant experience in an Enterprise Security role with demonstrated impact

Hands-on experience operating and maintaining a zero trust / Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) platform at enterprise scale (e.g., Zscaler, Cloudflare, Netskope, Chrome Enterprise Premium, or similar)

Exposure to at least one additional enterprise security tool stack beyond Zero Trust, such as Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), email security, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), or Identity and Access Management (IAM)

An automation mindset with experience scripting and debugging code with Python (with or without AIassistance) and using SOAR platforms

Strong familiarity with common security challenges and the ability to independently evaluate their severity and business impact

Track record of delivering impactful work across multiple quarters and collaborating effectively across teams

Residency in the Pacific or Hawaii time zone

An ideal candidate also has

Significant breadth across the zero trust ecosystem, including least privilege, just-in-time access, identity lifecycle management, and network security

History of building out security programs using modern SaaS security platforms such as Crowdstrike, Mimecast Incydr, and Splunk

Experience with infrastructure as code deployments using Terraform
