Network Security Engineer
The Role
We are looking for a motivated Network \& Security Engineer to join our Infrastructure \& Network Engineering team.
Our team designs, operates and secures the company’s data\-center, office and telecommunications networks. We manage switching, routing, firewalls, VPNs, internet connectivity, inter\-site connections and network services across multiple locations.
Your primary focus will be Intellico’s network and security infrastructure, including Cisco networking, Palo Alto firewalls, BGP routing and traffic monitoring. The position also includes selected data\-center, corporate IT and telecommunications responsibilities.
You will work closely with the team to ensure secure and reliable connectivity for Intellico’s infrastructure and messaging platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Design, operate and maintain data\-center, office and inter\-site networks
Configure and support Cisco switches, routers and related network infrastructure
Operate Palo Alto firewalls and maintain firewall security policies
Manage site\-to\-site VPNs, remote\-access VPNs and external partner connections
Operate BGP routing and internet edge traffic steering
Manage VLANs, routing, NAT, network segmentation and IP address spaces
Manage internet upstreams, carrier connections and connectivity between colocation sites
Plan and implement network architecture changes, upgrades and lifecycle activities
Monitor network availability, performance, capacity and traffic flows
Troubleshoot routing, latency, packet loss, DNS, firewall, VPN and connectivity incidents
Capture and analyze network and protocol traffic using Wireshark
Maintain network diagrams, configuration backups, inventories and operational runbooks
Implement network segmentation, infrastructure hardening and vulnerability remediation
Review firewall rules, access controls, firmware versions and security configurations
Support installation, cabling and replacement of network hardware at colocation sites
Support Proxmox, Linux, DNS, DHCP, NTP and other infrastructure services where required
Support network\-level troubleshooting of SMPP, SCTP and SS7/SIGTRAN connectivity
Provide secondary support for office networks, Wi\-Fi and corporate IT services
Participate in incident management, infrastructure changes and the compensated on\-call rotation
Requirements
Good hands\-on knowledge of TCP/IP networking
Experience with Ethernet, VLANs, switching, routing and network segmentation
Practical understanding of firewalls, NAT, access controls and VPN technologies
Experience with Cisco or comparable enterprise network equipment
Experience with Palo Alto or comparable firewall platforms is an advantage
Knowledge of BGP, internet routing and multi\-site connectivity is an advantage
Practical experience with Wireshark and packet\-level troubleshooting
Understanding of network monitoring, capacity management and configuration backup
Basic Linux and infrastructure administration knowledge
Knowledge of Proxmox, Ceph, ZFS or virtualization environments is an advantage
SMPP, SCTP, SS7 or SIGTRAN knowledge is an advantage
Strong soft skills, including analytical thinking, teamwork, ownership and communication
Education in IT, networking, cybersecurity, computer science or a related field, e.g.:
Informatiker/in EFZ, Fachrichtung Plattformentwicklung
ICT\-System\- und Netzwerktechniker/in mit eidg. Fachausweis
Cyber Security Specialist mit eidg. Fachausweis
A comparable technical or university qualification
Fluent in English, German is an advantage, resident in Switzerland
Practicalities
Location: Freienbach, Switzerland
Employment: Permanent, full\-time position, 80%\-100%
Working model: Primarily office\-based, with up to two home\-office days per week where operational responsibilities allow
Schedule: Normal working hours with participation in an on\-call rotation
Travel: Occasional visits to other Intellico offices and colocation facilities
