ABOUT US

Imperix is a leading provider of control and prototyping solutions for power electronics. Founded in 2013 as a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), the company develops and commercializes prototyping and test equipment for power electronics, electric drives, smart grids, and related fields.

Our products are designed to accelerate the implementation of power converter prototypes and facilitate experimental activities in research laboratories. Our customer base includes both universities and industrial clients seeking to validate state-of-the-art control techniques or new power converter topologies.

Today, over 90% of our sales are generated internationally across more than 50 countries.

At Imperix, we are a young and dynamic team of approximately 35 people. We are conveniently located within a short walking distance of the train station in Sion.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Power Electronics Solutions Engineer, you will support our clients in addressing state-of-theart research objectives with imperix equipment. You will assist them in selecting the products that best fit their needs while meeting technical or budget constraints. In many cases, your recommendations will be key to accelerating their time-to-success and guaranteeing a fully working prototype implementation.

At imperix, there is no cold calling or outbound sales prospecting. Similarly, there is no incentive to promote specific products. Instead, you will handle inquiries as they arise and focus strictly on providing technical guidance to fellow engineers. When exchanging with customers, your primary mission is to listen, ask the right questions, and provide transparent information.

As part of our sales team, you will manage opportunities from the initial requirements collection, draft technical proposals, supervise system assembly, lead factory testing, monitor delivery, and assist customers during the getting-started process. If custom control software must be provided, you may develop and test it yourself.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN DUTIES

  • Host web meetings and handle email inquiries from potential customers worldwide.
  • Ask targeted technical questions about converter topologies, power ratings, control strategies, and other performance requirements to identify key challenges and constraints.
  • Build up recommendations, typically identifying the required sensors for a specific control, the most suitable control hierarchization approach, or the right power module type.
  • In specific cases, dimension or pre-design auxiliary equipment and arrange their procurement, such as for medium-frequency transformers, energy storage systems, etc.
  • Design clean, complete solutions using imperix controllers, power modules, and software. Plan cabinet layout and integration. Prepare detailed technical and financial proposals.
  • Collaborate closely with internal R&D teams to resolve complex technical requests and execute advanced customization projects.
  • Spend part of your time working on customer-specific engineering projects, application notes, or contributing to core R&D activities.
  • Carry out occasional customer visits, on-site commissioning, or trade show participation.

Education and experience: MSc or PhD in electrical engineering.

Seniority: 0–5 years of relevant experience. More senior profiles also welcome.

Technical skills: Broad and diverse knowledge of power converter topologies, control techniques, and hardware-related prototyping requirements.

Communication skills: Interest in customer-facing roles. Ability to explain complex concepts. Languages: Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Other languages are a plus.

THIS POSITION WILL SUIT YOU IF

  • You appreciate a young and friendly environment that is also rigorous and demanding.
  • You enjoy combining power electronics engineering expertise with problem-solving skills.
  • You are well-organized, responsive, and capable of working with strict deadlines.
  • You appreciate human interactions and are sensitive to cultural differences.
  • You are self-motivated and capable of working both individually and as part of a team.

  • Your CV,
