Research Associate for in vivo Nonmalignant Hematology Research

Background

We are seeking a Research Associate to support the preclinical evaluation of novel therapies for nonmalignant hematologic disorders, including bleeding and thrombotic diseases and anemia.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will assess efficacy, safety, and translational relevance using complementary in vivo and ex vivo approaches with preclinical animal models and human blood and plasma samples. While this role is sitting in the Discovery unit, they work very closely together with clinical teams.

Hence, the role requires end\-to\-end experimental ownership, including hands\-on animal studies, sample collection and processing, execution of functional assays, data analysis, and characterization of drug candidates in hemostasis and thrombosis.

Tasks \& Responsibilities

Design, execute and analyze diverse in vivo and in vitro experiments in the field of coagulation

Demonstrated hands\-on experience with rodent work, including intravenous injections and blood collection

Characterize efficacy and safety of novel pharmaceutical assets using molecular and biochemical assays (e.g., ELISA, thrombin generation assay, chromogenic assays) in murine and human samples

Prepare, handle, and test patient\-derived material (blood and plasma) in in vitro and ex vivo settings

Perform data analysis and present results within the team

Maintain thorough documentation and contribute to general lab organization, safety, and inventory management

Must Haves

MSc or BSc in Life Sciences (e.g., molecular biology, pharmacology, immunology, coagulation) with at least 2\-3 years hands\-on animal study experience (No PhD accepted)

Or, completed an apprenticeship as Research Associate (“Lehrabschluss”) with at least 4\-5 years of academic or industry experience

Active LTK1 certification, FELASA certification, or equivalent, ideally with current mandatory continuing\-education requirements already fulfilled

Strong hands\-on in vivo skills including compound administration, monitoring and organ sampling

Strong hands\-on experience of in vitro assays, including but not limited to DNA/RNA isolation, ELISA, qPCR, biochemical assays and protein\-based assays

Strong experience and independence in experimental design and data analysis

Ability to independently execute and manage in vivo and in vitro studies from start to finish

Fluency in English

Nice to Have

Hands\-on experience with thrombin generation and chromogenic substrate assays

Experience performing surgical procedures in rodents, such as in vivo thrombosis assays and in vivo bleeding models.

Knowledge of coagulation, hemostasis, bleeding, or thrombosis biology

Prior pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience
