What if your next breakthrough could help transform the lives of patients living with autoimmune and immune-mediated diseases? At Novartis, we're seeking a passionate and experienced Research Scientist to join our Immunology Department in Basel.
In this hands-on laboratory role, you'll play a critical part in designing, executing, and interpreting innovative in vivo and ex vivo studies that advance our understanding of disease biology and therapeutic mechanisms.
Working alongside talented scientific teams, you'll help generate high-quality data, influence project decisions, and contribute directly to the discovery and development of medicines that may redefine patient care.
### Key Responsibilities ###
* Design, coordinate, and execute complex in vivo immunology studies supporting discovery and translational research objectives.
* Conduct rodent disease and mechanistic pharmacology studies while ensuring high-quality experimental execution.
* Perform ex vivo immunological analyses, including flow cytometry, cytokine profiling, and biomarker assessment.
* Analyze and interpret experimental data to generate actionable scientific insights and project recommendations.
* Optimize existing methods and contribute to the development of innovative research approaches and assays.
* Maintain accurate study documentation, experimental records, and scientific presentations aligned with compliance standards.
* Collaborate across multidisciplinary project teams to advance immunology programs and support key decision-making.
### Essential Requirements ###
* Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or laboratory technician qualification in a relevant life sciences discipline.
* Minimum five years of hands-on immunology research experience in an academic or industry environment.
* Strong expertise conducting rodent in vivo studies, including disease models and mechanistic pharmacology studies.
* Proven experience with cellular immunology techniques, flow cytometry, cytokine profiling, and biomarker analysis.
* Ability to independently design, execute, analyze, and interpret complex scientific experiments.
* Excellent scientific communication, organizational skills, and ability to collaborate within cross-functional research teams.
### Desirable Requirements ###
* Experience working with human peripheral blood mononuclear cells and humanized mouse models.
* Experience supporting assay development, optimization, and implementation of novel immunological techniques.

Expected Annual Base Salary Range for role
* Switzerland: 65,870.00 - 122,330.00 CHF Annual
The salary offered is determined based on gender-neutral objectives, such as relevant skills, competencies and experience in accordance with the Novartis pay setting policy and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically.
In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for a performance-based bonus depending on certain performance parameters. Further details will be provided during the application process.
