MARINE INSPECTOR TRAINING OFFICER

You will serve as a MARINE INSPECTOR TRAINING OFFICER and be responsible for implementation and management of the unit's Marine Inspector/Port State Control Officer (MI/PSCO) training program, and serves as a subject matter expert providing technical expertise and training leadership in the compliance duties of marine safety, vessel inspection, pollution prevention and vessel manning laws, regulations, treaties, and international conventions.

Typical work assignments include: Develops and maintains written, unit-level MI/PSCO training program guidance and procedures in alignment with applicable Regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, CFR), Coast Guard District, Area and Headquarters-level directives Sets qualification goals/timelines, and tracks trainee progress towards certification or recertification of MI/PSCO competencies required of inspector positions Chairs the unit MI/PSCO Qualification Board, recommending qualification of personnel to the unit's MI/PSCO certification authority after verification of completion of relevant qualifications and training Develops and regularly schedules unit training sessions to facilitate training and qualification of MI/PSCOs Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Requests: If you believe you have a disability (i.e., physical or mental), covered by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended that would interfere with completing the USA Hire Competency Based Assessments, you will be granted the opportunity to request a RA in your online application.

To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

Experience in implementing maintaining training programs for Marine Inspectors and Port State Control Officers, including drafting written guidance and procedures. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and Coast Guard directives.

Strong knowledge of marine inspection and port state control operations is required Experience in managing required deadlines, monitoring trainee progress, and managing certification or recertification processes for Marine Inspector and Port State Control Officer competencies.

Familiarity with relevant qualification standards and tracking systems is necessary Experience leading or participating in qualification boards, verifying completion of required training and competencies, and making formal recommendations.
