The posting

Riot Games was established in 2006 by entrepreneurial gamers who believe that player-focused development can result in great games. In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends to critical and player acclaim. As the most-played PC game in the world, millions of players log in every month. Players form the foundation of our community, and it’s for them that we continue to evolve and improve the League of Legends experience.

We’re looking for humble but ambitious, razor-sharp professionals who can teach us a thing or two. We promise to return the favor. Like us, you take play seriously; you’re passionate about games. We embrace those who see things differently, aren’t afraid to experiment, and who have a healthy disregard for constraints.

That’s where you come in.

As a QA Engineer (Contract) for an unpublished R&D product, you will work with numerous disciplines to ensure quality bars are met across the software development life cycle. You will work with your team of artists and producers to create value for players around the world.

It will be important for you to protect the player experience and deliver results in a high pressure, agile development environment. You will also be tasked to work with other QA professionals, often remotely to get your work completed.

Impact/Scope

Your execution of quality activities (testing, risk assessment) impacts the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of your team and closely related teams.

You have specific recommendations for improvements on the development process and quality of the products you work on.

Complexity

You solve complex problems by innovating on best practices, and implement new ways of approaching and mitigating quality risks.

Supervision/Oversight

You need little instruction on day-to-day work, and you are able to operate independently, while also instructing junior QA and external testers in their day to day tasks.

Craft Knowledge

Your skills show expertise in one area, and you are able to deploy a variety of craft elements to solve increasingly complex problems.

Required Qualifications

3+ years Software Quality Assurance Experience, with success leading testing efforts on a team.

Experience designing and executing test plans.

Experience managing components of a defect database.

Experience tasking remote testers and providing feedback on effectiveness.

Experience working embedded with developers and content creators.

Experience creating custom reports on test coverage and defect data.

Desired Qualifications

Comfortable with deep-dive investigations and testing technical implementations

Development experience across multiple platforms (i.e. Mobile, Console, PC)

QA experience working on content development and integration pipelines

Experience with Unreal Engine 4/5 and Perforce

Preferred Licenses/certifications

ISTQB Foundation Level

ISTQB Agile Tester or ICAgile Agile Testing (ICP-TST)

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!
