You will serve as a Senior Consultant on active cases involving targeted and mass violence, insider threats, ideologically motivated actors, stalking, domestic terrorism, and cyber-enabled threats.

You will perform specialized psychological autopsies/death reviews and interview/interrogation consultations.

You will apply structured professional judgment tools (e.g., TRAP-18, WAVR-21, HCR-20, CPIR) to evaluate threat vectors.

You will extract psychological data from case files to provide insight into mental illness, personality, diverse motivations, pre-incident indicators, and escalation pathways.

You will recommend threat management and long-term monitoring strategies grounded in behavioral science and investigative best practices during operational case reviews with agents, analysts, and leadership.

You will apply DON and Department of War (DoW) guidelines to guide policies on human reliability screening, special personnel selections, and counterintelligence/counterterrorism principles.

You will deliver effective briefings and training to NCIS personnel and the broader law enforcement community on warning behaviors, threat typologies, crisis intervention/de-escalation, and risk communication.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service or private sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate: Providing psychological consultations to law enforcement, intelligence, or forensic teams; applying structured threat assessment tools to evaluate behavioral risk; formulating threat management strategies for complex cases (e.g., workplace violence, terrorism); and communicating complex behavioral science findings to organizational leadership.

Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of seven years post-licensure experience in forensic psychology, threat assessment, and organizational consultation. Board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology in either Forensic Psychology or Police and Public Safety Psychology.

ATAP Certified Threat Manager (CTM) credential and/or active membership in relevant professional organizations. Formal training/certification in structured threat assessment tools (e.g., WAVR-21, HCR-20, CPIR). Knowledge of intelligence analysis methodologies, threat reporting systems, social media analysis, and digital footprint assessment.

Demonstrated experience in violence risk assessment within institutional and organizational settings. Core Competencies & Attributes: Problem Solving & Under Pressure: Uses sound judgment to generate alternatives during crises; works effectively under pressure and time constraints.

Attention to Detail: Conscientious in analyzing complex case files and applying a strong ethical framework for handling sensitive intelligence. Oral & Written Communication: Makes clear, convincing presentations to senior leadership; translates technical concepts into actionable operational guidance.

Research and Analysis: Knowledge and application of the integration of science, theory, and clinical knowledge for the purpose of understanding, preventing, and relieving psychologically based distress or dysfunction and to promote subjective well-being and personal development.

It includes the psychological assessment, evaluation, and treatment of patients with problems of personality, emotional adjustment, or mental illness.
