Training Instructor (Re-employed Annuitant) (Term Appointment)

As a Training Instructor (Re-employed Annuitant) (Term Appointment), your typical work assignments may include: Serves as a technical expert and presents materials in broad, and most times complex subject areas including, providing training to foreign law enforcement SIU in Firearms, close quarter combat (CQB), evasive driving, land navigation, evading/preventing isolating events, as well as surviving and coping with detention/hostage event by a foreign government and/or terrorist organization.

Develops standards and guidelines for the technical accuracy and relevance in the course materials and adapt them to the locale of the course, students, and to adjust for unforeseen circumstances.

Leads meetings with personnel from other organizations and programs to develop or evaluate complex programs or specific highly technical training based on needs and available resources. Participates in planning and developing or evaluating and revising the curriculum for a training program or an academic department.

Serves as a role player for course practical exercises.

Basic Qualification Requirements: Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled; OR Experience: General Experience (for GS-5 positions): Experience that provided evidence of the ability to instruct students in the use of equipment, principles, or practices of the subject or occupation.

This experience may have been gained as a teacher or instructor; in on-the-job supervision or instruction of subordinates or fellow workers; or in work involving application of the principles, practices, and techniques of the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled.

AND Applicants applying for the GS-13 must meet one of the following requirements: A. Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-12 grade level.

Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate one or more of the following: 1) Reviewing or updating existing training materials, lesson plans, and practical exercises to ensure support of current operational requirements; 2) Delivering instructions in various subject areas, not limited to firearms, close quarter combat, evasive driving, land navigation, and surveillance detection; OR 3) Conducting lectures, demonstrations, or hands on practical exercises and administering examinations.
