SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER (POLICE CHIEF)

You will develop law enforcement programs, training schedules, personnel actions and operating plans for the MCPD.

You will review and evaluate staff actions for adherence to MCPD and installation/training policies.

You will formulate long-range operating plans based on assigned missions and functions, facilities, equipment, funding, and staffing requirements necessary for mission accomplishments.

You will prepare reports relating to criminal and civil security hazards, complaints, and witness statements for use in future legal proceedings and investigations as required.

You will be responsible for assigning work through subordinate supervisors and will be available to discuss problems and develop solutions.

You will coordinate with other law enforcement officials within regulations where applicable.

You will perform periodic and special statistical, financial, and productivity analysis and evaluations of short and long range requirements for the use of MCPD resources.

You will visit units/persons serviced and other law enforcement agencies in the area to discuss policy problems, solutions, and coordinate with operating officials of agencies.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, that provided knowledge of a wide variety of laws and regulations relating to law enforcement operations, practices and techniques and involved the responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property; supervising police officers; developing, implementing, and overseeing law enforcement programs and policies, training schedules, personnel actions and operating plans; resolves complex employee complaints and group grievances; performing statistical, financial and productivity analysis and evaluations for short and long range requirements in connection with prospective changes in various Operations and Service functions.

Incumbent is subject to 24-hour recall and will maintain a 24-hour recall notification number and is required to respond per installation policy/SOP. May be subject to being interrupted from meal or other work breaks while on duty. Overtime may be required.

Must be able to use all police equipment, certify in the use of radar detection and alcohol detection equipment, field sobriety tests, expandable or collapsible baton, and obtain other certifications required to accomplish the duties of a law enforcement officer.

Must successfully complete a designated USMC Police Officers Course (BPOC and meet all certification requirements, to include weapons certifications, CPR, AED, DoD and Joint Training Regulations. As first responders to chemical/biological attacks, must be able to train and wear personal protective equipment to include mask, suit, boots, and gloves.
