Conduct collision investigations by interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence,and preparing findings reports in accordance with regulations.
Recommend new traffic plans and programs to resolve recurring congestion and enhance safety on the installation.
Provide testimony on traffic collision reconstructions to support criminal prosecutions and civil litigation.
Coordinate joint investigations with local, state, and federal partners to ensure thorough evidence gathering in cases of concurrent jurisdiction.
Guide other police officers at accident scenes to ensure proper investigative procedures are followed according to regulations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Applying basic laws, regulations, and law enforcement techniques to protect life and property; (2) Assisting in conducting traffic investigations or collisions by taking statements, gathering evidence, or apprehending suspects; (3) Preparing reports on case information investigative findings.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
