Police Officer

This is a developmental position; duties listed below will be performed in a developmental capacity at the GS-06 grade level. At the full performance, GS-07, the incumbent will:

Respond to and investigate emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.

Provide sworn testimony based on the investigative process, evidence gathered, witness’ statements in criminal and traffic courts.

Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer.

Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining order and protecting life and property; responding to emergency calls, complaints, or other calls during shift; and completing police/security reports or forms.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing law enforcement work which involves basic laws, regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and/or techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and/or property.
