Supervisory Paralegal Specialist

As a Supervisory Paralegal Specialist, GS-13 you will perform the following duties: Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) performing an extensive range of paralegal support activities for OPLA attorneys involved in litigation and other mission-supporting activities.

Skillfully uses databases to pull reports and gather information relating to subjects that include, but are not limited to, Division statistical reports, such as case and claim fiscal and quarterly numbers as well as work assignment statistics; case precedent; immigration status of noncitizens; criminal records; background checks; location of "alien files"; status of cases, including status of appeals, motions, and deadlines; and availability of immigrant and non immigrant visas.

Prepares responses, oversees processing, and adjudicates administrative claims for personal injuries and property damage pursuant to the FTCA.

You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Conducts detailed research, analysis, and evaluation of tort claims and other litigation, preparing responses, and various other documents; and Provides expertise with the use of legal research applications, such as Westlaw or Lexis, and other litigation support applications; and Independently drafts legal memoranda for attorneys.
