Coordinate patient scheduling activities to various clinics; keeping up-to-date on available capabilities of all clinics.

Distribute and balance the workload among employees; trains and assists team in organizing the work of MSAs located within the organization

Train new staff personnel and provide procedures and assistant duties, front desk duties, reviewing completed work and/or spot checking work in progress and any updates to current practices.

Resolve simple informal complaints and keeps supervisor informed.

Maintains suspense file and follows to ensure appointments have been recorded.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Basic Requirement for Lead Medical Support Assistant: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting clinical staff with administrative/clerical duties; scheduling patient appointments; and utilizing office automation to enter or retrieve data This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist.

A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
