Serve as Medical Support Assistant (MSA) for the Family Advocacy Program (FAP).

Provide administrative and medical support that require the application of extensive guidelines and specialized knowledge.

Provide assistance in the management, evaluation, and reporting of child and intimate partner abuse cases.

Use a variety of software programs to create database files, retrieve reports, statistical data, and rosters.

Review record prior to appointment for complete and accurate information.

Answer questions regarding substantive matters that may require in-depth familiarity of Family Advocacy Program policy.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Basic Requirement for Medical Support Assistant (Family Advocacy Program/Office Automation): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative or clerical support for family advocacy program healthcare staff; receiving patients and visitors (in person or telephonically); and utilizing automated systems for entering or updating data in a medical treatment facility.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
