Boiler Plant Operator

You will serve as a Boiler Plant Operator and be responsible for performing preventative and routine maintenance, diagnosing malfunctions, performing tests, and analyzing results on a variety of equipment. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include: Operating dual fuel boiler, natural gas/#2 fuel fired boilers. Taking established pressure and temperature readings, operating pumps, burners and manual or automatic controls to supply 90 PSI steam pressure.

Making scheduled and unscheduled rounds, checking condensate systems, feed pump systems, fuel oil system, chemical feed systems, air systems, and water in emulsifier systems. Making frequent checks of water levels, water temperatures, fuel oil temperatures, and burner operation.

Repairing and maintaining large air conditioning systems that perform a variety of functions. Installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility supply and disposal systems and equipment.

To qualify for the Boiler Plant Operator WG-5402-10, applicants must meet the following screen-out job element to be considered for this position: Job Element #1: Ability To Do the Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) to be considered eligible for the position.
