Maintenance Worker

Constructs items from wood where specific fit and accuracy are within allowable limits to produce a serviceable product.

Sets up power saws, drill presses, etc., for various cutting, shaping and drilling.

Paints signs, targets, markers and structures by using standard coating methods such as brushing, rolling and spraying by coating materials that are prepared to specific directions.

Cuts brush, tree limbs and grass to clear lanes of fire by utilizing mowing machines, tractors with bush hogs, and/or other tools and equipment as required.

Operates a motor vehicle with trailer to transport materials to and from ranges on installation and public roads,

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker without more than normal supervision.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision PHYSICAL EFFORT Must have full use of both hands, arms and legs. Makes repairs in hard-to-get places. Work requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping and stretching.

Work requires uncomfortable and tiring positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing 60-100 pounds or more with assistance. Must maintain fitness to walk covering distances up to 8 kilometers (approximately 5 miles) carrying equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in shop and on ranges with exposure to rain, heat, cold, dirt, dust, grease, noise, odor, smoke and fumes. Work is subject to rotational shifts, as required, to provide 24 hour range support during training exercises.

Worker is subject to cuts from hand or power tools and danger from flying splinters, chips and sawdust. Incumbent is also subject to electrical shock and burns when using electrical equipment or performing maintenance.
